In September 2009, the Sacramento Fire Department and Police Department teamed up to conduct their first annual Safety Poster Contest.
The theme of the contest, “SAFETY FIRST!”, was designed to provide an opportunity for students to gain awareness of safety issues and, through their artwork, convey their thoughts about the importance of taking preventative measures to stay safe.
The poster contest was open to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade throughout the City of Sacramento. Over fifty students entered the contest. The posters were judged based on their safety message, creativity, originality, visual impact, and universal appeal. Inside this calendar we are proud to present the twelve winning entries.
On behalf of the City of Sacramento Fire and Police Departments we would like to thank all of the students, teachers, and principals for their participation and their commitment to promote safety.
