Video Surveillance of Suspect in U Haul Fires

Sacramento- Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a parking lot of the U Haul Store at 1650 El Camino Avenue early Sunday morning. Firefighters arrived in a little over 6 minutes, where they encountered many U Haul trucks on fire. They requested additional Firefighters to assist. A total of 6 U Haul Trucks were destroyed in the early morning blaze. There was no damage done to the building. A Level 2 Haz Mat was requested due to run off of fuel into a nearby storm drain.

Surveillance video footage shows an unknown male who appears to have been siphoning off gasoline from one of the trucks when the gasoline caught fire. The suspect, a white or Hispanic male in his 30’s or 40’s, was last seen leaving in a dark green mini van. It is possible this person suffered burns to his face, possibly burning off any facial hair. The video also shows two other unidentifiable males running. The video does not give any good footage of them, thus there age or race is not known.

The action of these three individuals resulted in damages exceeding a few hundred thousand dollars. This is due to the loss of the vehicles and the projected cost to clean up the spilled fuel.

If you know the identity of this person or if you have any information that could assist Fire Investigators in his arrest you are encouraged to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443- HELP or 1-(800) AA-CRIME. You can remain anonymous and a reward may be available.
