Sacramento- recently, six dogs and their handlers that are members of Sacramento’s Fire Service have passed their evaluation under FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Canine program. These dogs and their handlers are now official members of Sacramento’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, California Task Force 7.
These canines represent three Sacramento area Fire Agencies, Three dogs are from Sacramento Fire Department, two from Sacramento Metro Fire District, and one from El Dorado County Fire. Past canine members of Task Force 7 have responded to different disasters across the Nation including the 911 tragedy at the World Trade Center in New York City.
